DIY // Pink Star Cake Toppers

Last week I promised you the free printables so that you can make your own pink star cake toppers, and here they are.

But before we get to them, a brief description of what I did to make mine:

  • Print off the PDF below on the thickest card that will go through your printer (a satin finish is preferred, or matt, but I would avoid anything too glossy).
  • Get a couple of colours of glitter glue  – I used a pink with gold glitter and a clear with silver / white glitter. Cover some of the stars with a thin layer of the glitter glue. I find it easier to do this step before cutting the shapes out for two reasons. 1) You don’t have to worry about going over the edges of the stars, and 2) the card will crinkle a little because of the water in the glue and if the sheet is still whole it will – hopefully – warp less. Leave to dry for a couple of hours / overnight.
  • Cut out the stars and the banner.
  • I stuck the toppers to a combination of cocktail sticks and wooden skewers. I left three of the skewers whole – to give three tall stars – and then cut about 8 more in half, this will give you sticks that are midway in length between the whole skewers and the cocktail sticks. I stuck the banner to three of the cut skewers. The toppers were attached using a small piece of selloptape on the back and I trimmed off any excess.

That’s it! Simple! The step that took the longest was cutting out all the shapes, but just settle yourself down in front of the telly and get snipping.

If you use them then I would love to see them so please leave a photo on the bakery Facebook page or tag me on Instagram (@kirstenhwhyte).
