Craft Corner: Create a picture wall for free*

*When I say free, I really mean almost free. You need to purchase some picture frames and some photographic paper that will go through a printer. And have access to a printer. But other than that, there needs to be no more expense. Oh, and maybe something to stick the pictures to the wall. But other than that . . .

Often when seasons change, I feel the need to re-vamp things, or move things around. Generally go for a little switch-up, especially when it is the switch from winter to spring. Even though I am not summer’s greatest fan, there is something about spring sunshine that is so invigorating and motivating and makes you want to do things.

But even though I feel like a change I don’t necessarily want to spend a fortune, because thriftiness in some areas means more lipstick. Simple maths.

One of the favourite blogs that I follow is desginlovefest. It is a very light and bright blog and the styling is great. There are many great features, but the one I look forward to the most is dress your tech.

Each week there are collaborations with different artists and graphic designers to produce lovely images to adorn laptops, phones and tablets alike. I have downloaded quite a few for my computer and I truly think there is something for everyone – floral, photographic, abstract, graphic etc. All sorts of different styles.

But a few months a go I wanted to put some more pictures up on my wall and couldn’t find any I liked. That’s when I had a thought. Why not print off some images from the dress your tech gallery and frame them.

Bingo! New pictures for a fraction of the price that they would cost if you got them in a shop.

Yes there is a little bit of work involved – you need to print them off (in the right size) and then trim them before framing them, but it is hardly arduous.

If, like me, you have frames that are an unconventional shape, move the frame around to find the bit you like the most;

Then use the glass to draw around so that you get the right size.

New pictures and a mini spring overhaul.
